Introduction
Our pension has frequently foreign guests, who have always
enjoyed their stay, but when leaving, told us it would be really helpful
to have some English version of the pension rules, how to come, etc.
With the help of a former foreign guest, we have created this English page,
where, we hope, you can get the information needed.
Where is Urabandai?
Urabandai is located 280 km North of Tokyo, in Fukushima
prefecture, the southern part of Tohoku. Urabandai area is part of
the Bandai Asahi National park, with Mt.Bandai (1819m).
Mt Bandai erupted in 1888 and this eruption created one of the biggest
lake in Japan and about 300 ponds giving the site its natural beauty.
Mt Bandai is famous in Japan for its shape, resulting from the eruption.
Urabandai is definitely a “hidden” place in Japan. It is one of the best
places to relax when you really want to escape from big cities, especially
Tokyo. Tohoku is famous in Japan for being quiet, in comparison with central
and southern Japan, extremely crowded. Urabandai is only 4 hours by train
from Tokyo, be ready for a good breath!!
Pension yukiwariso
About us
Yukiwariso, located 900m above the sea level, is a Western style pension,
located among mountains and rivers, where you can relax and enjoy nature
all through the year. At Yukiwariso, you can expect delicious dishes, a
great rest in our home. Guests are always astonished by the quality of
the environment and the quietness of our garden. With more than 25 years
experience, we are sure you will keep a great memory of your stay.
We are
a member of Urabandai pension village association, and comply with the best
standards in our industry.
Accommodations and garden
Yukiwariso is a logged house style pension equipped with 8 bed rooms (from 2 to 4 beds),surrounded by forests and mountains.
You can easily enjoy flowers or autumn colors from the dining room,at the
bench, or on our hammock..
Dinner and breakfast
Western style dinner and continental breakfast are arranged in the dining room.
At the end of the day, a delicious dinner is
waiting for you. Beef preparation or
smoked rainbow trout have been some of the most popular menus for the
last 25 years. Guests frequently comment on the quality of our food, of which
our foreign guests. You will enjoy the tranquility of having your breakfast
with direct view on our garden, surrounded by mountains and forests.
Activities
Yukiwariso is also a starting place for outdoor activities, in Urabandai
area, all through the year : hiking, trekking, cycling, jogging, canoeing, ski, snowboarding, cross-country-skiing.... Yukiwariso lend Canadian
canoes and mountain bikes for free !!! It is also worth taking pictures
while looking at the beautiful nature surrounding our pension. To rest
at the end of the day, you can easily find hot springs near the pension,
stay in the garden or even sleep in the hammock.
You can easily hike Goshiki-Numa(five colors ponds), Bandai-san(Mt.Bandai)
or visit historical cities(Aizu-wakamatsu, Kita-kata, Yonezawa, etc.).
Ohuchijuku (old post town in Shimogo area) is one of our favorite!

Cancellations
We have the following cancellation policy.
- 3 days before the reserved date: you shall pay 30% of the total amount
- 1 day before the reserved date: you shall pay 50% of the total amount
- On the day reserved date: you shall pay 80% of the total amount
- Without notification: you shall pay 100% of the total amount
Policy
During the dinner, we have a non-smoking
policy in effect.
No pets allowed.
